The HBO Max app or web player is available on various devices, including phones, tablets, computers and laptops, Smart TVs and streaming devices, and game consoles. If you already have a subscription, just log in to your HBO Max account and enjoy your favorite shows and movies. This handy guide will show you how to access HBO Max on any of your devices, ensuring you can stream anywhere, anytime.

Sign In to HBO Max on Mobile Devices

HBO Max is available at the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Appstore. Subscribers can stream HBO Max on the following mobile devices:

  • Android phones and tablets with OS 5.1 or later
  • Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch with iOS 15 or later
  • Amazon Fire tablets: 4th generation or later

If you already have an HBO Max account with an email and password, log in to HBO Max on your phone or tablet with the following steps:

  1. Open HBOMax and choose Sign In.
  2. Enter your HBO Max account email and password to sign in.
    • To sign in with a provider, tap “create an HBO Max account” under the Continue button.
  3. Choose your profile to start streaming.

Log In to HBO Max on Desktop

On your computer and laptop, you can stream HBO Max with its web player. For the best experience, use the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari. Here’s how to sign in to Max on the web player:

  1. Go to hbomax.com  and choose Sign In on the top right.
  2. Enter your HBO Max account email and password to log in.
    • Click “create an HBO Max account” under the Continue button if you want to sign in with a provider.
  3. Choose your profile to start streaming.

Activate HBO Max on TV and Game Console

Users can also find the HBO Max app on the popular Smart TVs and game consoles including:

  • Android TV: Android TV OS 5.1 or later
  • Apple TV: 4K or HD with tvOS 15 or later
  • Roku: Roku OS 14 or later
  • Amazon Fire TV: Fire OS 5 or later
  • Hisense VIDAA TV: OS 6.0 or later
  • LG Smart TV: WebOS 3.5 or later
  • Samsung TV: 2016 models and later
  • Game Console: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

If HBO Max isn’t available on your TV, you can also use AirPlay, Chromecast, or an HDMI cable to watch HBO Max on TV.

Here’s how you can activate HBO Max on your Smart TV, streaming devices, and game console:

Option 1. Scan QR Code

  1. Download and install HBO Max on your TV device. Open the app and choose Sign In.
  2. A QR code and a six-digit code will be shown on your TV screen.
  3. Do either of the following:
    • Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera and tap the link on your phone, or
    • Visit hbomax.com/signin and enter the six-digit code.
  4. Enter your HBO Max account email and password to sign in.

Option 2. Use the HBO Max Mobile App

This option is only available on certain devices. To use this method, ensure that your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  1. Sign in to the HBO Max app on your phone or tablet. Keep the Max app open and active.
  2. Open HBO Max on your TV, select Sign in, and then choose “Use HBO Max Mobile App” on the left.
  3. Go back to your phone and tap Allow from the HBO Max app. You’ll be signed in to your Max account on TV.

If you don’t see the prompt from the HBO Max app on your mobile device, close HBO Max and reopen it on your phone or tablet.

Option 3. Use Email Address

  1. Open HBO Max on your TV and choose Sign In.
  2. Select “Use Email Address” on the left.
  3. Enter your HBO Max account email and password and choose Sign In.

Option 4. Use Mobile Number

  1. Launch the HBO Max app on your TV and choose Sign In.
  2. Choose “Use Mobile Number” from the left side.
  3. Enter your mobile number associated with your HBO Max account and choose “Continue“. 
  4. You’ll receive a 6-digit code via SMS. Enter this code on your TV.

How to Log In to HBO Max with a Provider

If you get HBO Max through a TV, internet, or wireless provider, you need to connect to your provider before signing in to HBO Max. Here’s how to sign in with Provider on different devices:

On Desktop and Mobile

  1. Open the HBO Max app or visit hbomax.com and choose Sign In.
  2. Select “create an HBO Max account” below the Continue button.
  3. Find your provider and sign into your Provider’s account.
  4. Sign in to your Provider’s account.
  5. Now link your provider’s account to HBO Max.
    • If you don’t have an HBO Max account yet, select Create Account.
    • If you already have an HBO Max account, enter your email address and click Create Account. Then choose Verify Email.

On TV Devices

  1. Open HBO Max on your TV and choose Connect Your Provider.
  2. Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code on your TV, OR visit hbomax.com/providers and enter the code shown on your TV.
  3. Stay on your phone or computer. Select your provider and sign into your provider’s account.
    • New subscribers need to complete the account form and choose Create Account.
    • Current and returning users can enter their HBO Max email address and click Create Account. Select Verify Email on the next page.

Now you can go back to your TV and start watching your favorite shows and movies on Max.

Follow the tutorial below to download HBO Max movies and TV shows to MP4.

Click the Search tab on top and find a movie or TV show by entering the name in the search field. You will get the same results as you search on the HBO Max website or app.

Or you can copy and paste the link of the movie or show from the HBO Max website. Then click the Search icon.

Step 4. Download HBO Max movies and TV shows

For movies, click the Download icon next to the movie title to initiate the download.

For TV shows, click the Download icon to select specific episodes for download. Then click the Download button at the bottom right to start downloading.
