How to Watch Disney+ on Older Apple TVs

The native Disney+ app is only supported on Apple TV HD (4th Gen) and Apple TV 4K running tvOS 16 or later. Older models, such as the Apple TV 3rd Generation, do not support app downloads, but you can still stream Disney+ to your TV using in-app AirPlay from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Please note that Disney+ requires AirPlay 2 compatibility for screen casting. While Apple TV 2nd Gen only supports original AirPlay and Apple TV 1st Gen lacks AirPlay, you cannot stream Disney+ via AirPlay to these older models.

How to Watch Disney+ on Apple TV by Home Sharing

Apple TV 2nd-generation and later also support Home Sharing, allowing you to play local videos from a computer to your TV over your local network. While Disney+ allows Premium users to download movies and TV shows on mobile devices, these downloads are encrypted, hidden data files restricted to the Disney+ app. They cannot be transferred or played like local files.

To enjoy Disney+ content on your Apple TV via Home Sharing, consider using a professional tool like Pazu Disney Plus Downloader. This powerful desktop app allows you to download Disney+ videos as high-quality MP4/MKV files with either an ad-supported or Premium subscription. Then you can use the Home Sharing feature to play these local videos on Apple TV.
