Amazon Prime Video is Amazon’s on-demand streaming service, and it’s available for free to existing Prime members. Non-Prime users can opt to subscribe to Prime Video separately if they prefer. The platform boasts an extensive library with thousands of titles, ranging from action-packed films to highly entertaining reality shows.

What sets Amazon Prime Video apart are its exclusive Prime Originals, such as the critically acclaimed series like “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.” These shows are a must-watch for any streaming enthusiast.

Moreover, Amazon Prime Video has expanded into producing movies, with notable success, including “Brittany Runs a Marathon,” which received a prestigious award at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.

For sports enthusiasts, there’s exciting news as well. The NFL has signed an exclusive deal with Amazon for Thursday Night Football. Starting in the 2022-2023 season, Prime Video will be the sole platform for Thursday night games, providing comprehensive coverage, including pre- and post-game analysis.

The Prime Video app is available on a range of televisions, Amazon devices, mobile devices, Blu-ray players, games consoles, and streaming media devices. You can also watch movies and TV shows from amazon.com/Amazon-Video/ on computers.

Similar to other video streaming apps, the Prime Video app may encounter occasional issues. If you experience frequent crashes with Prime Video on your device, try the following solutions to resolve the problem:

How to fix that Prime Video keeps crashing?

1. Unplug tv and plug back in

To address the issue, attempt the following troubleshooting step: Unplug your TV, wait for 15 seconds, and then plug it back into power source.

2. Clear Cache on Roku

  • Go to the Roku Home screen
  • Ensure that the Home menu item on the left is currently selected then:
  • Press the Home button 5 times
  • Press up once [^ button]
  • Press rewind twice [the << button]
  • Press fast forward twice [the >> button]
  • The screen will freeze for up to 30 seconds, then the device will reboot.

3. Check for Prime Video updates

Try updating the channel. Go to Prime Video channel, press the * button on your Roku remote and then select Check for updates from the options menu.

4. Uninstall and reinstall the channel

When reinstalling Prime Video channel, please make sure to restart your device before reinstalling the channel back again, specifically in that order to ensure the process is successful. That step is crucial when performing the troubleshooting. If you haven’t tried the suggested order (remove > restart > re-install), we would recommend giving it a shot once again.

1. From the home screen head over to the Prime Video app.

2. Once the app is highlighted, press the * button on your Roku remote and then select Remove channel from the pop up menu.

3. Restart your Roku device(navigating to Settings System System restart Restart).

4. Press the home button on your Roku remote.

5. Choose Streaming Channels.

6. Scroll to Search Channels and type in Prime Video.

7. Select Add channel to install it back.

5. Check for Roku system updates

Make sure that your Roku TV is running on the latest software update. You can check for updates by going to Settings > System > System update > Check now. If there are updates available, follow the instructions to install them.

6. Restart your Roku

We would recommend doing this from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings System Power (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.) > System restart.

7. Download Prime Videos to MP4 and play from USB Drive

If Prime Video keeps crashing on your Roku and above solutions don’t work, you may consider downloading movies and TV shows to MP4 and then playing them from USB drive, or DLNA servers with Roku Media Player.
