Netflix keeps track of your viewing history to personalize recommendations. By analyzing what you watch, Netflix suggests shows and movies you might enjoy, helping you discover new favorites or rediscover forgotten gems.
However, you may want to control your viewing history. Whether you want to refresh your recommendations or accidentally start something, you can remove titles from your watch history.
This guide will show you how to find and manage your Netflix watch history. You can also download your viewing activity if you prefer to keep a local record.
Netflix offers a Viewing activity page to show everything watched for the current profile. Here’s how to find your Netflix viewing history:
You can remove individual titles from your Netflix viewing history. Once deleted, the title won’t influence recommendations and will disappear from the “Continue Watching” row.
You can also clear your entire viewing history at once. Select “Hide All” at the list bottom to remove everything and start fresh with your recommendations.
Before clearing your Netflix watch history, you may want to keep a copy of what you have watched. Netflix offers the option for you to download the entire Netflix viewing history as a CSV file. This creates a handy spreadsheet you can keep track of, even after the title’s gone from Netflix.
To download, go to the Viewing activity page on Netflix and look for the Download All button at the bottom.
Netflix subscribers can download selected movies and TV shows from the Netflix app. However, most downloads last 7 days, and many titles expire 48 hours after you first press play. Some titles even limit how many times they can be downloaded per year. Additionally, downloaded titles can only be accessed through the Netflix app on the device used to download them. They cannot be transferred to other devices or stored in external storage.
If you want to overcome these download limitations and permanently save the movies before removing them from the watch history, you can use Pazu Netflix Video Downloader. It is a desktop program designed to download Netflix videos without the need for the Netflix app. The tool can bypass Netflix’s DRM protection and convert movies and TV shows into MP4 and MKV formats. The converted files are preserved in high quality, up to 1080p, and maintain the original subtitles and audio tracks. After converting, you can transfer the downloaded files to any compatible device for offline enjoyment.
