Finally Netflix has canceled AirPlay support. Although other video streaming services like Disney Plus, HBO Max, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video work just fine with AirPlay, it seems like Netflix just chooses to be stubborn.

Here’s the full statement from Netflix:

“We want to make sure our members have a great Netflix experience on any device they use. With AirPlay support rolling out to third-party devices, there isn’t a way for us to distinguish between devices (what is an Apple TV vs. what isn’t) or certify these experiences. Therefore, we have decided to discontinue Netflix AirPlay support to ensure our standard of quality for viewing is being met. Members can continue to access Netflix on the built-in app across Apple TV and other devices.”

However, provided you possess a Netflix subscription, you have the option to download the Netflix app onto your Apple TV for viewing—assuming, of course, that you own a newer model Apple TV that is compatible with the App Store.

If you don’t have a new Apple TV and still want to airplay Netflix on TV/Mac, here is an alternative – Download Netflix videos to MP4 and then airplay them to TV from Mac/iPhone/iPad, or transfer the downloaded videos to USB drive and play on any TV directly.
