Unlike other streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video is a platform beyond on-demand movies and shows. It also offers users the option to rent or purchase movies and shows, as well as add Premium channels such as Apple TV+, Max, and Paramount+ to their subscription. When you search for a certain title on Prime Video, the result will display various labels like “Include with Prime,” “Free with Ads, “Watch with Max,” etc. So what do these labels mean?
“Included with Prime” on Prime Video means you can watch the show or movie for free with an Amazon Prime membership. Typically, this content is exclusive to Prime members. Titles can be added and removed from time to time, and differ depending on your country.
In addition to “Included with Prime,” there are other video categories available on Prime Video. Content labeled “Free with Ads” or “Watch for free” means it’s available to all users, whether with or without Prime, but usually includes commercials.
Videos with “Available to rent or buy” are titles not included with the Prime membership, often newer releases or content outside the standard Prime library. If you rent a title, it lasts 30 days to start watching the video and 48 hours to finish once started.
Videos labeled with “Free trial of Paramount+,” “Subscribe for $9.99,” “Watch with Max,” etc., suggest that you need to subscribe to certain third-party premium channels to watch the title. Some subscription services provide free trials for new users.
Yes. With an Amazon Prime membership, you can download “Included with Prime” videos through the Prime Video app on Fire tablets, iOS, Android, macOS, or Windows devices. You can also download movies you’ve purchased and rented. “Included with Prime” titles can be downloaded on up to 2 devices, purchased titles on up to 4 devices, and rented titles on 1 device.
Many third-party add-on video subscription titles are also available for download, but you may need to download them within their respective apps.
However, titles marked “Free with Ads” or “Watch for Free” are only available for online streaming and cannot be downloaded with the Prime Video app.
