Your Netflix viewing history is more than a log of what you’ve watched; it’s also the power behind your personalized recommendations. Netflix analyzes your viewing habits to suggest shows and movies you might enjoy, helping you discover new favorites. Managing your Netflix watch history is a simple way to keep your recommendations fresh and maintain privacy. Whether you want to revisit a movie or show but can’t remember its name, or if you’d like to refine your recommendations and control your viewing data, here’s how you can find and delete your Netflix watch history.
Netflix provides “Continue Watching” and “Viewing Activity” for users to track their watch history:
Please note that each profile has its own separate “Continue Watching” and “Viewing Activity.” Once you’ve finished watching a video, it’ll be automatically removed from the “Continue Watching” list but remain in your “Viewing Activity.”
Netflix allows you to download a copy of your viewing history as a csv file. This can be useful for finding a show you can’t remember the title or keeping a personal record. If you want to recommend movies to a friend, you can easily share your viewing history with them. It is also a way to preserve your Netflix watch history if you delete it, cancel your subscription, or a title leaves Netflix.
Here’s how to download your Netflix viewing history on desktop browsers and mobile app.
If you’ve started a title on Netflix but don’t plan to finish it, you can remove it from your Continue Watching row. However, it will still appear in your viewing history. To completely remove a title and prevent it from influencing your recommendations, you’ll need to hide it in your viewing activity. This way, it’ll also disappear from you Continue Watching, unless you watch it again.
You can also clear your entire Netflix watch history at once. This will remove all titles from your viewing history and start fresh with your recommendations.
Netflix subscribers can download titles for offline viewing, but watched downloads still appear in your viewing history. To watch Netflix content without it being recorded, you can download it as an MP4 file and view it outside the Netflix app.
Pazu Netflix Video Downloader is a desktop program that facilitates this. This tool can directly download Netflix movies and TV shows to MP4 or MKV format on Mac and Windows computers. The converted files are preserved in high quality, up to 1080p, and maintain the original subtitles and audio tracks. After downloading, you can transfer and play the downloaded files on any compatible device and app for offline enjoyment, without affecting your Netflix viewing activity.
